UCR registration questions
Straight answers on Unified Carrier Registration, fleet fees, participating states, and how online filing works.
What is UCR?
The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) program is an annual federal registration for motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies that operate in interstate commerce.
Who needs UCR registration?
You need UCR if you operate as a motor carrier, freight broker, freight forwarder, or leasing company across state lines — including when based in a non-participating state but operating into a participating state.
How are fees calculated?
Fees are based on the official UCR fleet-size brackets (for example 0-2 vehicles, 3-5 vehicles, and so on). Brokers and freight forwarders without vehicles typically pay the lowest bracket.
What if I have 1001+ vehicles?
Select the 1001+ Vehicles bracket or contact us. Large fleets are quoted manually and do not use online card checkout.
Are you the official UCR website?
No. UCR Registration Online is a private filing service. You may register directly at www.ucr.gov if you prefer to file without using our site.
How long does processing take?
Complete, paid applications are typically processed the same day. You receive confirmation by email and a digital certificate when filing is complete.
What information do I need to apply?
USDOT number, legal business name, entity type, fleet bracket, principal place of business address, authorized contact name, phone, and email.
